IOP/s Like You’ve Never Seen
This is exciting stuff. I took some time–and a handy-dandy flipcam–on my recent trip out to the MAST Center to film Joe Jeddeloh’s demonstration of our enterprise PCI-e prototype. It’s really cool to prove (on hardware) what was thought-to-be-possible on paper. Come on into the lab and see the kind of IOP/s we’re hitting with this thing for yourself.

Interface bandwidth seems to be a problem with moving forward on this kind of technology. Have you been talking with vendors about creating or updating current south bridge configurations so that the CPU has more direct access to the storage? Maybe create a direct connection to the CPU and get more IOPS. It seems at this point, that you have created a Ferrari that will be confined to a slot car environment. I am very impressed with the direction Micron has been going and look forward to seeing your creativity become globally recognized.
Very cool video…I was hoping to see something like, open Outlook 2007 and see ho it runs…a little Photoshop or maybe a movie editor software. You know lets see the real red meat in the works!

Way to go Joe! I’ve often wondered where the guys from the old Micron Tech ASIC group ended up after the PC division got spun off.
I’m very interested to try this SSD in my company’s servers. We run FreeBSD, and Fusion-IO currently expresses no plan for support for that OS. Has your card been tried in FreeBSD?
