RealSSD C300 goes head-to-head with a hard drive in everyday tasks

By now you’ve seen our SSD vs SSD benchmarks, but to show you how that speed translates to the real world, we pitted our 256GB C300 SSD against a standard issue 7200rpm HDD in identical systems. We then tackled a handful of everyday tasks—boot up, file copy, and opening large files in Adobe® Photoshop®.

    Great stuff, what about pc gaming performance. Loading times in particular. Most games nowadays use big compressed files to extract data from while loading. A test showing some game loading time comparisons would really interest me. Im still conflicted about spending the extra money on SSD but if it really is saving me a dozen seconds everytime a level or game, loads, those will add up quite fast and save me a lot of time, time on which i cant put a price untill now :D

    What sort of price premium are we looking at compared to current SSDs? The Intel 160GB SSD can be had for about USD500.00 . Will these new drives be much more expensive than that?

    will they be cheaper? :-}

      Thanks for the post. We believe the C300 will be very cost competitive. As a manufacturer, we’re careful about announcing pricing publicly, but as of release, we’ve said we’ll sell the C300 at $350 for the 128GB and $715 for the 256GB at quantities of 1,000. You’re probably interested in consumer pricing, though, which you can expect to see early next year when we announce our distribution partner. Stay tuned
